Cuper and Egypt's national team crowned Best Coach and Team

Few days after winning best African player in BBC African Footballer of the Year, Egyptian star Mohamed Salah added a new honour to his collection, as the Liverpool forward won the African Player of the Year award in a ceremony held in Ghana on Thursday.

Salah takes home the award, as he managed to defeat competition from Senegalese striker Sadio Mane and Gabonese wing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Speaking to the crowd after winning the award, Salah said, “I am very happy to win this prestigious award. It is a great honour for me and for my country.”
A success story that every Egyptian takes pride in, Salah scored 20 goals in his first 26 games with Liverpool.

One of his remarkable milestones is Egyptian forward’s success in taking his country to the Fifa World Cup after 28 years of absence from the international competition.

Meanwhile, Egyptian national team has been announced the Best African Team in 2017, while Egypt’s coach Hector Cuper has been selected as the best in the black continent.

Meanwhile, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi congratulated the winners, commending Mohamed Salah for being “a model of promising Egyptian youth, ambitious to prove themselves.”
