Egypt wins presidency of Arab Academy of Music

Inas Abdel Dayem is sixth president of Arab Academy of Music


Egypt, represented by Inas Abdel Dayem, president of the Egyptian Opera House, has won the

presidency of the Arab Academy of Music.

Abdel Dayem will be the sixth president of the Arab Academy of Music since it’s establishment in 1971.

This came during the 24th Arab Academy of Music Conference on 28 and 29 December 2017 at the Research Centre of the Academy in Amman, Jordan, where the new presidency of the academy was elected.

Furthermore, Abdel Aziz Ibn Abdel Galil, representative of Morocco at the academy, was elected first vice president of the Arab Academy of Music.

Moreover, Saleh Hamdan Elharaby, representative of Kuwait at the academy, became second vice president of the Arab Academy of Music.

The conference approved the extension of the term of General Secretary Kifah Fakhoury for a new period.

It is worth mentioning that the first president of the academy was Saleh Elmahdy, who was representative of Tunisia, followed by Hassan Ariby, who was representative of Libya.

Meanwhile, the third president for the academy was Tarek Abdel Hakim, representative of Saudi Arabia, while the fourth was Rateba Elhhanafy, representative of Egypt, and finally the fifth one was Maaly Elamin Basheshy, representative of Algeria.

The Arab Music Academy is a specialised body of the League of Arab States, which is responsible for the development of music education in the Arab world.

Moreover, It is responsible for the collection and preservation of Arab musical heritage and dissemination of musical culture.
