Charlie’s Hebdo issue following attack ‘unjustifiably provocative’: Dar Al-Ifta

Dar Al-Ifta condemn mosque attacks in France following the attack on Charlie Hebdo

Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta warned satirical French Magazine Charlie Hebdo from publishing another issue “offensive” to the Prophet as a response to the “terrorist” attack on the magazine.

Dar Al-Ifta claimed that such an act is “unjustifiably provocative” to the feelings of Muslims across the world, read a statement by Dar Al-Ifta Tuesday.

The statement further read that this issue will “cause a new wave of hatred” within the French society.

Dar Al-Ifta condemned also the attacks on mosques in France following the attack on the satirist magazine. It added that such an act “will give the opportunity for the extremists on both sides for the exchange of violence”.

It called for the French government and political parties to reject the “racist act” committed by Charlie Hebdo magazine as it promotes “sectarianism” and “deepens hatred”.

The attack on Charlie Hebdo left nine journalists, along with the magazine’s editor-in-chief Stephane Charbonnier and two police officers, dead in the attack, which was later claimed by Al-Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi also condemned the attack and stressed Egypt’s solidarity with France. Egypt’s Al-Azhar issued a statement condemning the attack noting that “Islam denounces any violence”, following the attack.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry joined other world leaders in the million man rally in Paris.
